this is fabulous. I love these two tone paint jobs from Specialized but I still don't understand why the downtube is a hard line and the seat tube is a fade.

So I know one of the colorist who was part of that design decision. They said it's drawing inspiration from the difference of how, due to atmospheric perspective, lights wraps around a close and far peak.

I'm not a huge fan of how it bisects the downtube...

Do you have an example of what he's getting at? Its a totally unnatural transition, if there were a natural divider in the downtube structure it might look better but the spot they picked to change the colour looks arbitrary. Take a look at any example in the automotive industry, the place where the two colours change is almost always a natural divider in the bodywork.

new specialized tires are a great deal for how good they are.

I have been really enjoying their eliminator - fast rolling and plenty of grip. They seem to be long lasting as well

Anything that comes in pairs MUST be same brand, with the exception of suspension.

But brakes, grips, tires, rims, hubs, pedals (I’ve seen mismatched pedals before), must match, or else my ocd is heavily triggered.
