Panasonic Lumix G10 or Olympus E-PL1?

I am after a new camera and don't know which one to go for. I am quite new to photography and don't have loads of £'s to spend. I'm thinking of getting either a Panasonic Lumix G10 or an Olympus E-PL1 but don't know which is better as they seem similar. I am thinking of possibly studying photography in sixth form next year. What are peoples thoughts?
