Right.

Basically, i was using Axo TMKP's as my dad gave them to me after he stopped riding moto, so was using them up until i broke my kneecap (whilst using them) and obliterated the pad at the same time

So now i'm looking for new pads, preferably with a hinged design like the TMKP's. Plenty of the soft squidy padding too! Big Grin

I do enjoy shin protection at the same time also.

Hit me up with suggestions and what you wear please

Salute

Shortlist so far for my ease of remembering:
Them big hinged Knox pads
A-stars Moab
Them big thor pads
Poc VPD Bone
Dainese?

I wear raceface rally dh.

Despite the design they're quite non-restrictive and if anything they're too protective. Which you'll probably be quite keen on now.lol

Hopefully it's a little bit of help.

I;m currently using soft shell pads (davey jones from demondirt) as i won them for best crash at the urban dh in plymouth, and soft shell is comfier, but my old thor ones (like i linked to you) where definately better protection. I'm a regular visiter to the ground and for 4 years my thors stood up strong. Theyre designed for motocross though and dont offer a huge range of movement, but unless you some kinda monkey gymnast on the bike its not an issue.

As the review say, tad bulky, i wore a sleeve under them for comfort, and didnt wear them on the three mile ride out to the woods like i can with my current soft shells, but then again in 4 years of crashing i never felt a single thing! I'm guessing theve got to be pretty rub free tho with all those wires on ur kneecap, could end up a bit sore?

The alpinestars moab's are rated to be brilliant and have shin protection too.

these ones are hinged and look like serious armour:

Though if you oblitereted the axo, it was a bit of a serious freak crash, and very unlucky, i'd highly reccomend the thors for protection, and others for more comfort. What size be your knees as i had the small/meds and could post thmem to you to give a try, so you dont waste cash on some if they turn out bad?

I've used the new alpinestar knee and shin protectors for about a year now, awesome.

I've looked at the moabs, and the pad seems to not be over the knee properly when your leg is bent.

I've had a look at Knox and i like what i see Smile

And i also had a look at the thors, and also like that i see Razz

Just trying to get a shortlist of suitable pads and choose the best out of them, i've got plenty of time to sit and research so i'm going to do it properly Big Grin

And yeee chaz i know it was a freak crash Eek

I find 661 pads pretty nice. I got the kyle strait ones because I don't like shin padding. There's bound to be better but I'm going stong on them so I recommend them

Ive seen all the new 2012 products and we have tested it out for knox the knee pad is great however the big white ones are abit bulky however for 2012 there is a knee pad but its "longer" and runs down your shin and is nice and flexible !

I use 661 kyle strait's and they work well, however probably not the amount of protection your wanting. but i like them!
