so currently looking for brakes for my next build. I was set on Code rsc's
but since they've been hard to find and I found a set of Hope tech 3 v4's
I'm considering taking them. Any reviews on the V4's. I'm really liking the
looks, but they do look really heavy. They include the floating rotors,
so additional cash for rotors won't be an issue. only
other issue is ocd, because my bike is a Sram build. but that's a me
problem. What would you guys do. I had Guide ultimate, but when it
comes to steep shit, they sometimes are a bit under powered imo,
but other than that, absolutely loved them. V4's will be 50 bucks more
with rotors.
Which ones would you guys take.

Hope's for sure.

Hopes are pretty light, and the build quality is superb, just bought my 3rd set of Hope brakes.

Magura MT5 calipers and Shimano Zee or Saint levers.

I have been interested in this....

Well you really can't go wrong with Hope. Power, modulation, serviceability, customisation options, basically best of the best.
Their rotors are also top notch, extremely long-life without warping/bending or strange sounds.
This ^^ but if paired with king hubs you get clearance issues with the floating discs. I just had 2mm skimmed off the face of my king hub to get the clearance

So I'm looking for recommendations on aluminium 29ers, 150ish rear travel, which have a seat tube shorter than 500mm and reach of around 470-480mm. Very specific I know but it's what I like. Was looking at the Mega 290 the other day, XL sizing is great except for the 508mm seat tube which I think might be too close with a 150mm dropper, the large has a 460mm reach IIRC but I'm not sure if that would feel too short.

Magura MT5 calipers and Shimano Zee or Saint levers.
Had a really bad experience with magura and not risking that again.

I would run Saint with ice tech rotors, I had Code R's but they tended to fade on the really steep runs. CRC has a sale on now I believe so they are pretty cheap.

I run my Hope M4s on ice-tech rotors and they're awesome. Never had any fading issues and the power/modulation is awesome. If they ever completely fail, I'll definitely be replacing them with another set of Hopes.

I run mt5 with slx 2017 levers. Very nice combo. More powerful than my saints but even more of an aggressive bite point.

Medium Evolink 140? 480mm reach, 460mm seat tube.
Just be careful about the dropper fit because the 'link has a floating seat post so you may not be able to push the dropper all the way in.
