203 front 185 rear on my stumpjumper. may seem like overkill, but that's how it came.(in size large at least)

yeah i ordered a 180mm alligator aires for my front and 160mm for the back

another question i have both a 2x9 and 1x9 set up any comments on what you think would be better? i mean i know the 2 will obviously be better but is the 1x9 okay at climbing? it would be 36t up front with 11-26 in the back

203mm front / 180mm rear with Formula The One 2011 brakes, have never been as happy as now with the power, used to run 180/160 Formula R1s, hated them for their lack of power, upgraded to 180/160 The One, liked them, upgraded to 203/180 rotors, LOVE them! lol

180 front 160 rear for the brakes (SLX), i find it is more than enough.

I have 11-32 on the rear cassette with a 34t front, sometimes wish i had a 32t on the front on the really steep stuff.

I think spinning out in my granny ring made me slower, people were overtaking me all the time (pushing was quicker).
With a single ring i have to power it up the ascents, which is faster (for me) but harder work.

It depends what you're terrain is like. I would use an 11-34, or 11-36 personnally for xc/am. I use a 22/32 double up front because the trails closest to me have steep climbs. If you already have that setup, you might as well try to use it, and see what you think.

I am running 36T front and 11-34T 9speed on my all-mtn bike

now that the weather is wet and the ground is muddy, I'd appreciate a smaller chainring at the front (32T or 34T) as I cannot climb everything that I could climb in the drier conditions

I don't want yet want to move to 10 speed ,which I know would be ideal with the 11-36T 10speed cassette, because its expensive and my 9 speed kit is working well and not worn
