Hey PB world . Hey this is something really serious . I know a lot of us may blow this off and not care . But this effects all of us in many ways. Yeah you may be against piracy and illegal downloads . But I know your not against uploading you edits and watching news from Pinkbike. If these get past our world will turn upside down. No more great internet viewing and searches. No more being able to contact freinds from overseas . And for our friends over the pond you may no longer be able to veiw pink bike. So pleas I urge you sgn this petition and stop PIPA and SOPA from coming into action https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/ Unsecure image, only https images allowed: http://s2.hubimg.com/u/861337_f520.jpg #BANS johnparkhurst #BANS
you are right, this will affect most people on this site in some way. this has nothing to do with copyright infringements, as authors of copyrighted works can already shut down sites, and claim damages, when someone infringes. this just seems like a bullshit attempt at censorship, who knows what they will block! news, scientific papers, all sorts of important information will most likely become inaccessible if this bill is passed.
if you need to 'borrow' a zip code just google a random suburb to find one
The problem is, if America passes it, the rest of the world will follow.
You are right, people who feel their copyright has been infringed have all they need to shut people down. This is a really scary attempt to control the flow of information. Which, when you think about it is how dictatorships start.

damn straight. the worlds flow of information will be crippled. no one will know whats going on in the world because everything will be censored! there will be much more harm and financial loss than there will be gains to communities.
and thats exactly what im afraid of, other countries following. it only takes a few countries to adopt this method for the internet to essentially die.
true it does not effect what already is . But it does add new penalties and will shut down more sights. It also will increase charges on users . Lets per say you post a video of your bike . Fair enough harmless . But now lets say in your vid you add music and maybe a shot of the simpsons and certain font like the VW font . Now you are in total violation of copy write. PB will have to remove it or face consequence and you are subject to fine and or imprisonment
It's a sad state of affairs if this is to get passed. Coming from a small but growing biking community, we rely so much on the Internet for information and exposure to everything from parts to how tos and all the possibilities. It's true that this will take us back to the 90's or even worse. I still remember how skateboarding was in my country, all we had to know whats up was some vcr tape sent by some friend overseas and thats all we watched over and over. Not sure if this makes sense to the rest of you but the main and maybe the only reason a lot of kids here picked up bikes from being awed by what they saw being posted online. Now this has real potency to shut down the growth of the local community, since we dont really count among industry players and rely so much on outside sources for everything. It sucks to be left out, shut out because of the actions and choices of another.
Signed it a couple' hours ago. Here's something for you Americans - Call your senators and tell them no on PIPA/SOPA. Give them a piece of your mind...

So true. I remember watchin animal chin like 10000000000000 time haha. But imagine you would have never found your peanut and would have a buggered trek ticket if you would even be able to afford it @Dirt-Street-Park Good stuff thanks. Gonna let freinds and family know
idk how overseas but the person gets a notification on the phone if they choose to accept the call or not
I was exposed to DH through some video for the film VAST on youtube. Obviously infringing on copyrights in some strange way beyond our understanding (exaggerating here).
