9sp rear D and shifters with 10 sp cassette/36tooth cog

I have perfect Redwin XO rear D and shifters and l am wondering if it would work with a 36tooth cog. Can l use a modern ten sp cassette because the nine speed cassettes with 36 are boat anchors. Are the chains compatible and all that?

R der *should* work, Chain needs to be 10 speed, Shifter will NOT work, it pulls a different amount of cable than a 10 speed shifter thus shifting will always be off.
