I made the switch a few years back from 175 to 170. What is the basis of your questioning?

I am building aggressive hardtail mtb frame and playing with different options to get clearance with out having to build or buy a yoke. Lighter with out them and I can make a cheaper frame. I am toying with 148 boost rear end with 83mm dh shells. Then bring chainlibe in close to boost with proper offset ring. With e13 cranks you can get it super close. Gives me q factor clearance. There are like no 175 dh crank options so just seeing if it would really matter anymore. I run 170 and May switch to 165.

This is not personal as much as making sure potential buyers would have options. It looks like six c and atlas can be had with dh spindle and 175 arms. As for White Industries yes they prob have options not sure on 83 dh spindles as they mostly xc stuff and just getting into outboard cranks in the past few years.

I run 175's on my Nomad, smack pedals very rarely. pedalling feels a bit more natural compared to the 165/170's I've tried

170mm on off road bikes, 172.5 on the road bike.

Race Face also offers a 83mm spindle option for the Turbine/Next. They made it OEM for Rocky so you can special order them. They also have the boost plus spindle for the Switchblade as well if that'll work.

Odd. Don't people run shorter cranks on road bikes?

My daughters old bike has 155mm Canfield brothers. Should be quite strong. I think I should try it out for shits and giggles. Maybe I like that.

Longer cranks on the road bike for more leverage when spinning, also 172.5mm is appropriate for my height. Shorter cranks on the MTB for better pedal clearance and a faster cadence.

Cadence is for leg shaving pussies. Mash it bro.
