I just want Pivot to use 12x148 like everybody else. This 12x157 nonsense is getting old.

That's a part of the reason why my next bike isn't going to be a Trail 429... along with the seat tube being too slack.

I want that bike, but they don’t sell a frame only!!!!

STA is dependent on where you ride for sure, but SB+ is legit, it’s the standard we should have just gone to first. I have my old 148 alloy wheels that I decided to set up w/ DH tires for beating on park laps, and the $20 conversion kit to run it in my 157 frame is seemless. So if you have some nice 148 wheels you want to run, it’s really not that big a deal for you to run them.

Part of the reason I was also ok jumping to 157 is two of the other brands I am interested in also use it (Devinci & Pivot) so I will probably be rocking it for a while.

Until everyone is running 12 X 157. It's inevitable isn't it?

Maybe, although if that were the case I would have thought a little bit bigger brand like Santa Cruz would have jumped to it by now. But here we are 5 years later and they still haven’t bit.

There are a decent number of mid size brands that use it, and while it’s unlikely they would back-track to 148, it isn’t impossible. Devinci sorta did with the Marshal as a “cost cutting” technique, and Pivot still doesn’t use it on models like the Mach 4 SL because they were able to achieve their parameters with 148. So if it doesn’t catch on maybe these brands will find a way to explain away why they don’t need 157 anymore and go back to 148?

Wouldnt be the first time

Rly liking the new light double crown 180mm fork from formula. V2 megatower 180/180 with option to run big forks would tempt me to upgrade

So you can save 0.5kg

I actually just got done reading an article about that new Formula fork here-> https://bikerumor.com/2021/06/17/prototype-formula-selva-xl-180mm-double-crown-fork-lighter-than-enduro-single-crowns/

It's about the same weight if not lighter than both the Zeb and 38. Pretty impressive and I think this is something we are going to start seeing more of in the near future.
