Hey guys, I have 2017 Norco aurum C7.2 and I'm looking to buy something new for 2020. I quite liked it but am ready to move on. How does the new aurum compare ? And are there any bikes that would feel some what similar to the 2017 aurum, I'm not sure I want a huge change. Thanks for any pointers
Hi, Your current aurum, is a great parkbike, and sometime racer. But the HSP Aurum is a RACE bike, you would be wasting its abilities just if you weren't pushing it ! Maybe the Kona operator would be similar, but im not sure of leverage ratio's etc. Anyway, your choice, what time do you spend racing vs bike park? Maybe invest in some suspension tuning to breathe new life into it? New lighter wheel set?
cheers Brian
Thanks Brian! I mostly ride bikeparks and local trails that I push up. I like riding fast and I like tech as well as jump trails but don't do tricks or anything. I'll usually do 1 or 2 races a year. I did do quite well at the last race I did and would like to do more next season maybe 4 or 5.. -Bram

Good for you!, imo seeing that the HSP is quite expensive, and the sizing is different than the standard Aurum, my i suggest a custom tune on your suspension?, it's cheaper than spending alot on a new bike that you may not like. Find a way to demo an HSP and see?
HI Gang, For those on Facebook, there's a new group Norco Bicycle Owners. Have a look and if your interested send me a request to join, and i'll add you to growing list
Alright so hear me out my dudes, I've bought a rocky mountain slayer and am selling my 2019 aurum A1. ( I know its sad, I'm sad too ) Cool thing about the slayer though, it supports tripple crown forks up to 200mm, of which my aurum has. So my thought is that I swap out the boxxers and put them on my new slayer, and either A sell my aurum as parts or B put the RockShox Yari Motion Control RC 180mm on the norco and sell it at a discounted price... What do you guys think? Would that 180mm norco be doomed?
I would sell the Norco as it is, then I would look around for a deal on some good boxxers for the new bike, I would like to say that I had a yt with 170mm lyriks that yt said could be swapped out for 200mm forks, I got some marzzochis for a good price and fitted them and to be honest it screwed up the bike, it became a bit front heavy on jumps, and the geometry alterations didn't do it many favours either, so I sold it and bought an 2016 aurum c7.2, not saying it will screw up your rock mountain but may be worth a bit of research before going ahead with your plan

The Slayer has 4 positions of geometry adjustment
That's kind of what I'm thinking, my concern isn't the slayer, its the aurum, and if I'll even be able to sell it at a reasonable price.
