This is more of a question for those who have tried both; I know there's probably lots of people who have opinions either way who haven't ridden a Hammerschmidt equipped steed.

I'm building a new, do everything bike. Would you say the Hammerschmidt system is worth the additional weight, and I assume maintenance?
The Hammerschmidt system is actually less than the crank set I would run, so cost isn't a factor in the decision.

Looking for some good rider input from people who've ridden them hard!
