Just a thought thats been in my head for a couple months now, are really wide bars better for dirt jumping and street?, cause iv seen alot of dirtjumping/street videos and SO MANY guys are riding with very wide bars, looks like it would give a little more control, any input would help, cause im considering on getting wider bars.
thanks,

Wider bars do give you more control but they are best for dh. The reason for some djers to have wide bars is all personal preferance. But its always good to have shorter bars so you dont get hit in the gut when you fail a bar spin or a xup.

Wide bars that are low-rise are very popular in the world of dh right now because they offer more control, and put your weight more over the front to give it more grip.
And Sam Hill has been running the same set up so more people would take notice of that.
But for street and dj a narrower bar would be better because you could x-up and barspin without your knees hitting the bars.

personal prefferance. i like 25in bars at least, because it gives me a more stable feel and as for x up problems, there is none you could ride a 30in bar and still xup and barspin

My XC bike has 680mm bars on at the mo, I think my DJ bike has 620~~ I quite like it.

And as for stability I'd say a 60mm stem over a 40mm offers a far greater control advantage than a 680 bar over a 660 for example.

wide bars a dope for street/dj their more stable and feel better then short bars, and u dont need short bars to x up or barspin... as long as you accually know what ur doing your fine.

Yeh agreeing with everyone else,i ride with wide bars and it does definatley give more stability in the air and gives you more style, where if you ride with short bars it can put you off balance more easily because your body position is more huddled up and stiffer. And i can x-up with long bars just takes more practise, but whats wrong with that?

med-wide, and barspins are ok, as long as you have the right body position

it depends on what you're riding, i ride a lot of techy tracks, so i have shoulder width bars, if i rode more alpine, i would use wider bars so the bike would be easier to control at high speed.
