Shows like that are fun! The guitarist from this blackened death metal band that played last night actually did a rap set too. It was kinda cool, but he wasn't that good and kept bringing up the fact that he is in a metal band and also a rapper.

Just got back from a killer f*cking show. Same venue as Friday, and an even better show. My buddy's hardcore band played and they killed it. This local pop punk group killed it, and then the two other hardcore bands were even better. I've never had that much fun moshing. Plus I got a cute girl's number. All in all it was a f*cking righteous weekend.

COOP was fronted by this goofy lurpy dude who can only write lyrics about 80s movies. Here's their bandcamp https://coopohio.bandcamp.com/releases

And then Wallcreeper was slightly doomy. Here's their bandcamp https://wallcreeperoh.bandcamp.com

Sorry the links aren't embeded. I'm on mobile.

Lol his plane a hour away kicked him off for not taking a picture with the pilot so my friend Brett is driving to pasco airport right now to pick him up and bring him to the show haha.

That's a dick move for the pilot. Celebrities don't have to be treated like a f*cking trophy to show off to friends.

Went to another hardcore show last night and managed to get my brother hooked on the scene! He was a trooper for it being his first show. He made it through all but the last set of four only because the moshing got too aggressive for him. I was kinda terrified too. The bassist was smashing beer bottles and swinging his headstock around like a f*cking weapon hahaha. Great show though! The glass made me thankful I chose my Doc Martens and not my Vans lol.

Huh...I am surprised I have never heard of this thread before, considering my long time love for all things punk rock. I blame the fact I haven't been active on the forums for several years. I am always down to discover new music so this thread definitely has my interest!! I appreciate, listen to, and play all types of music, but I'm a punk rocker at heart.

I guess I'll start by giving you guys some local Edmonton acts I have seen over the years. People often complain the scene is "dying" but I disagree.

Wednesday Night Heroes: Formed in the late 90's, one of my first introductions into local punk music as a teen in the mid 2000s. They will always have a special place in my heart. I was at their last show in 2014 and it was a riot!

No Problem: Harder than Wednesday Night Heroes, but formed with some of their members. Expect heavy moshing and stage diving from Graeme(the lead singer) at their shows. Have a song about riding bicycles through traffic.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxgSuGnkmzU

Fire Next Time: I have seen this band at least half a dozen times, and am seeing them again at the end of the month. They are a folk punk band, and probably my favourite local act. This song is about the Rosewood, Florida massacre(google it)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDh8_fI0Bdk

Chips Ov Oi!: The name is a pun on the cookie brand, and they sing songs about cookies. They are always down to party!!. I plan to get Myke, the lead singer, to do my next tattoo as he works at a local tat shop. Smash a cookie in your beer, oi oi OI!!

Mad Bomber Society: Straight up Ska Punk goodness. Get ready to have your ears blasted by horns and to pick it up!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJZ1MODZJD8

Raygun Cowboys: Rockabilly punk to the core. The bass player has a cow-hide covered stand up bass, good stuff!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cqT6WQe80A

Electric Audrey II: Bluegrass/folk/rockabilly/punk/ but always down do slam a beer rock out. The first time I saw these guys the fiddle player got up and walked across the bar counter doing a solo. I've seen them a couple times since and the enthusiasm from the whole band is great!

The Rhubarbs: Punk Rock mixed with straight up rock. Seen them a few times and they never disappoint

Haha that's good to hear. It's such a silly concept but they run with it well and don't take themselves too seriously. They're all about fun.
