Posted in the quick questions thread but maybe i'll have some luck here too?
Trying to figure out if there's anything I can do to service the rear shock on this 1995 Kona Sex One, Works fine as is, mostly just curious about it
There's a small screw at one end that looks like it's an oil port (no oil came out after i removed the screw, but who knows if it's ever been serviced)
Anyone have any ideas where i might find a tech manual/is there anyone who was a mechanic in the 90s that dealt with these?
What's the eye to eye and stroke length? Might be able to find an old Fox Vanilla to swap in if you're patient.
96 changed over to the faux/4 bar with a 6.5x1.5
Had a lot of fun on the old sex one
Good idea -
Found an old Vanilla on e/bay, deal of the year...right e2e/stroke, no leaks, had the spring I wanted, and I just wanted a spare for my Stinky Five. Tossed hat in on the starting bid, I had nothing to lose, sent a note and asked if he'd close it '(thinking ain't no one lookin' for this old ass shit...)
It's 130/135mm or so long, tiny! Haven't had much luck finding something in that length, let alone anything decent, Buuuut I just found a big crack around the top tube so nevermind haha

Even though it got shelved, I dig the rack on the back. Mine has all the mounts for racks and I loosely search for them but unfortunately I don't ride her enough to warrant them.
If I were commuting distance from work, having racks would make my old Spesh an ideal commuter platform.
you did a nice job transforming it. But, then again, you always do
Appreciate the sentiment. Purchased this strictly for the XT thumbies, once I cleaned it up I fell in love with the frame color and how all the components looked. Be damned if I happen to find an actual original fork for this frame in Colorado. I paid dearly for it but it’s on the way and also bought replacement thumbies for it as well. What a sickness this is lol
