eBay. NTN for $10 (shipped) or no-name for as little as $1.50 (no promises of quality, though).

So I bought some RT86 rotors and can't get the things to bed in properly, I used new pads too and the braking power is kinda meh. Any ideas

Burn those johnnies with a clean flame, try again.

your local shop?

Not trying to be a dick, but that's the perfect sort of part to just go buy. Your profile says you're in Whistler, somewhere there will have one.

Yeah, no.

That doesn't work.

It does but go off

If you try and burn stuff off you're gonna achieve one of a few things:

a. Contaminate them more with whatever you used to heat them

b. Warp the rotor (and potentially delaminate an icetech)

c. Mess with the heat treatment of the rotor and either harden or soften the surface depending on the heat treatment of the surface to begin with.

O+

don't put a flame to icetec rotors. Very bad.

Idk about icetec rotors but I've had great success with restoring regular steel rotors by pouring some IPA on them and lightin em up. It's not hot long enough to mess with heat treatment or to warp the rotors. If you're taken a blowtorch to them until the go cherry red, then ya sure that would mess up your rotors.

Yeah it’s a known thing you can do. Apperantly not with icetechs

Yea I know not to heat up rotors with flames lol... I was thinking of maybe scuffing the surface with Emery cloth and then wash in isopropyl.

Arm chair engineering analysis of why icetec rotors don't play nice with fire anyone?

Some Shimano rotors are specific to a certain pad compound, some cannot be used with metallic pads
