I've done tektro oil in shimano brakes. Don't see why it wouldn't work the other way around.

For generic grease, almost anything will work. When it comes to more precise things like freehub pawls or headset bearings, I tend to stick with more specific greases.

Im with you on freehub pawls, but why do HS bearings need somethin special?

I use something that's specific for bearings usually, i.e. designed for parts that move against each other vs being designed for parts that are stationary. I really like the Muc Off Bio grease for headset and hub bearings.
