Working on a 04 Kona Roast. Bottom bracket cartridge is Toast (pun intended). Anyone know what cartridge will work in that bike? Thanks in advance.
Taking a stab at this to help. The manual I found shows it's a standard 68 x 113 BB on page 9 of the document in the tech chart. I Googled the 68 x 113 BB and I think some of those might work - take a look and see.
what brand brake pads should i buy to improve the power of m8100 4 pot brakes?
they suck compared to my old magura brakes
What pads are you running now, and what size of rotor?
Stock pads 203 180 galfer rotors
Stock Shimano pads are usually (always?) resin. I would give some sintered/metallic pads from MTX or Galfer a go, as mentioned above. Just make sure your rotors aren't made for resin only (edit, I don't think galfer make a resin only rotor so you gtg)

Technically I don't think most Galfer pads are "sintered/metallic" but a mixed compound with ceramics and resins. They are just really really good at making brake pads unlike this shit resin organic of Shimano/SRAM. Same is probably true for MTX.

Get some D02S metallic pads, you’ll see a huge improvement!
I ran those until I couldn't stomach $30+ for a set of pads. I had tried and really liked galfer pads on some old juicy 7s. So I picked up some of their regular compound. $17/pair and blow Shimanos out of the water. They squeak just a touch when you get on them with some rotors. Otherwise the power, bite, and consistency are all there all the time. The Shimano metallic need to get some heat in them each day to wake them up it seems. They're solid but the galfer at half the price are better, regardless of price.
One con is the do seem to wear a bit faster.... Ie a season out of a set of rear pads where I used to do 1.5....
Shimano metallic sucks unless you ride descents, no power at all when its cold and thats not suited for biking
They need to warm up to actually work yeah ha.
BIG help for the metal Shimano pads is too rub the new pads together with a bit of clean water. You can feel the material biting harder after abit of scrubbing motion.
Break in period is much shorter with that process. Then riding the bike to bed in more too (obviously)

Frig I got a set of Galfer Purple (e-bike) for my Shimano 4 pots and they were the same goddamn price here as finned Shimanos. I'll order some online next time. I figured the e-bike specific might last longer. They are working pretty well.
Weird and niche question but Does anyone happen to know what rear brake hose length a 2022 status 160 S4 may need ? I found a good deal on some used mt7s but the rear hose is cut to around 60in so 1500mm and I’m not sure if that would work
