My 08 deemax rear wheel is giving off a strange vibrating/moaning sound, can happen at any speed above 15mph I'd say. Pedalling stops it briefly. No noticeable play in the wheel.
Is this a case of bearings going or something else?

I run a MTX and when going fairly slow it vibrates too in the rear wheel. I think it may be the bearings of the hub, I'd be interesting in hearing what people think.

Sounds like freehub bearings to me if pedalling stops it.

To keep you updated a post from another forum:
bigquotesNot sure if the Deemax run the same bushing system under the freehub as the Crossrides but my Crossrides did this a while back, really hideous vibration so much you could feel the bike shaking. The bushing was not available separately from Mavic you had to buy the complete freehub. But I got one off this chap on US eBay, clicked it in and it rode like new again.
So freehub bearings/bushing seems the way to go. now to take the hub apart...
