Looking at an aero coupe specifically. Just absolutely love the style of it, it’s got the really nice Viggen bumpers too And Hirsch wheels. Just looks the bomb. Was just wondering how reliable they are overall, any big rust issues like Nissan has from the same era? I know the 2.0T engines are bullet proof tuneable monsters.
Do it Wink
Wouldn't touch a diesel (and my friendy local Saab specialist told me the same thing) as it's not Saab's engine - can't remember who they borrowed it from, but it's quite common to see EGR and swirl valve issues with them so only buy if you enjoy having to get home in limp mode lol

But the petrols go for ever if you maintain them, and parts availability still seems to be fine, hasn't been expensive to service. I tested a few that were well north of 100k and all still smooth and pulling well. Don't think I've ever seen a rusty one either?
Only potential negative of the 2.0T engine is road tax so check what it is for the age you're looking at. £540 a year stings a bit!

Edit: you'll probably make some of the road tax back in insurance savings, as not viewed as a boy racer car. Went from a 100bhp Seat to a 210bhp Saab and my premium fell nearly 50% lol

The Saab 9 3 is a Vauxhall Vectra....

You're dead to me lol

It's quite amazing how good a car Saab managed to make from the tepid turd that GM gave them to use as a starting point, as the Vectra really is a mundane pile of crap and the 9-3 isn't Wink

I have heard that. I know someone that used to have a 9-3 diesel 150bhp, I thought it was quick until I took him out in our gts-t. I scared the daylights out of him.
He had to clean out the egr valve a couple of times, but it did go OK for a family car, very much on par with wife's civic 2.2 diesel. Looking at changing the civic for a Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake.
