Foes XCT A/M bike?

I have a 2007 Foes XCT. I would like to use it as an A/M bike. My plans are to upgrade rims to tubeless, and change it from a 3 X 9 to a 2 X 10 with a clutch deralliur. This would cost about half of what a new bike would. Should I upgrade the XCT or go with a new bike.
