Hi, my bike came standard with 26x 2.1 Maxxis CrossMark tires and I absolutely love them; to date the best tires I've experience. Perfect for my style of riding which is mixed pavement and hard packed trails. I love that they are light weight, fast, and have low rolling resistance. I checked prices for these tires and was shocked to see them retailing for $60 a peice! factor in taxes and I'm looking at about $130 for a pair! Too much for bike tires in my humble opinion. Anyone have any suggestions for tires that are similair to the CrossMark's but cost less? I don't care about the brand, just looking for light weight and low rolling resistance. Thanks.
That is about average pricing for high end mtb tire tires now.

For about half the price you could the wire bead version of the Schwalbe Smart Sam. I like them better than the Xmark.

Just looked at those tires and they look good. I also checked out Vee Rubber, they have a new tire called the Vee 8, looks good, just need to get some reviews on it first.
the Vee 8 will be OK, but far less grippy on dirt.
