Recently I bought a diamondback off craigslist for 50bucks, just for some practice. I was going to buy new parts to fix it up and realised it would just be too costly. So I'm interested in getting a complete for this spring/summer, but I'm only a beginner and don't really know which would be best.

These 3 have caught my eye though..

The most I'm looking to spend is 500!

Thanks Smile

first one, sealed bb, front hub and rear hub. Other than that they are very close in specs.

Not so fast, that fit benny is tiny as f*ck. If you're taller than 5'2", you might want a longer TT.

That's true. I didnt even look at tt size since the OP never mentioned their height. This bike is on sale and in your budget right now

It has a full chromoly frame which none of the other bikes listed have. Same with this bike

well I'm exactly 5'2.. But I think I might look into the Kink Transition more.. Any recommendations on pegs to grab with it if I choose it?

EDIT: forget it.

I'd say just get cheap ones.

Chromoly is good. And all cheaper pegs are pretty much the same unless you want plastics

Okay so I found this one that's fully chrome, sealed hubs, and has 3pc cranks.. It's a 100 cheaper than the Kink and seems to basically have same specs..

Would the Stolen Score be worth it and upgrade it as the parts break or would you say spend the extra 100 on the Kink Transition?

I've heard mixed reveiws on stolen, but it seems they have been stepping it up recently. I'd say go for it. By the way, chromoly and chrome are completely different things. 2 cents

Ah Redface well I definitely have a lot more to learn

Hey, its all good. Everyone starts somewhere. Chromoly is a higher quality steel then hi-tensile, its stronger and lighter. Hi-tensile is heavy and weaker, but if you are just getting started and don't mind so much, its still a decent material. Chrome is just a finish on the metal itself obviously, however, be careful. I've heard it said that the chemical process of chroming steel can actually weaken it, so a chrome fork may not be as strong as a painted fork. as for right now, the stolen looks like the best of the bunch. good luck man.

I haven't read through this whole thread to see if anyone else posted this yet. But did you notice the kink whip is on sale at danscomp? It's full chromo and all sealed bearings. Cheaper than the first bike you posted too!

I actually ended up ordering individual parts.. basically ordered everything except frame, forks and tires.. Hopefully by summer my bike will be fully custom!
