I have a 2006 Specialized Demo 9 Pro and wondering what people are using for a bike rack. I want something for my Nissan Altima, not sure if a trunk bike rack or roof rack. And don't forget the tubes on the this frame are massive.

Personally I think any old bike rack will do mate. I owned a demo 9 for years and my mate had a 04 big hit. I have a 15 quid bike rack from macro which took them both with ease. I've been using it for 8 years now.
It's was fine on my Saxo and in my nissan primera.

Spend a little extra cash and go for a Thule T2 hitch rack, works extremely well and thule will replace pretty much any parts for it no questions asked.

if you have a hitch (or are thinking about getting one), look into 1-Up bike racks as well - they're all aluminum, the rack tilts, and it folds up for easy storage.

I've ran roof racks for the last 7 years and, honestly, they're a pain in the ass when it comes to heavy DH bikes. my Yakima Cobra racks handled my 40lb+ Bullit and Glory just fine, but lifting bikes onto your roof at the end of the day, when you're exhausted or hurt, isn't wonderful.

I just bought a hitch for the Subaru, and am considering going the 1-Up route. with a hitch rack it's easier to load/unload bikes, fuel economy doesn't suffer as much, and I can load/unload in my garage if the weather isn't cooperating.

edit: if you do things like ski, snowboard, or kayak, which require that you have a roof rack, then it would probably make alot more sense, financially, to go with a roof mounted bike rack. Thule and Yakima have good options for strong roof-mounted bike racks that would easily handle your D9. if you don't need a roof rack for anything else, I'd lean towards a hitch (or trunk) mounted solution.

I don't have a hitch so thinking of buying the Thule 9001 trunk rack. Hope it holds up!!!
