Does anyone run a modefixxer? Do you miss the shapeshifter? Is it worth getting one fitted?

I have the fixed one and couldn't be happier, actually wish the bike came like this, less clutter on the bars, lighter and one less thing to worry about. To make up for the geometry I slammed the saddle all the way forward, bike still climbs like a champ.

Yep used to use shapeshifter. It doesn't necessarily always come down to the figures on paper, i just preferred it, don't know why.

I've seen others say the same, i'm not alone.

Personally, I don't like the shapeshifter. Sure, the geo is better for climbing but the pedaling sucks for some reason. On a constant gradient climb when I switch from XC to DH mode feels like I put it in an easier gear. It was a disappointment because I was expecting that it will improve the climbing not making it harder.

I feel like it certainly doesn't change anything enough to warrant having it there in the first place

I took mine off and run a coil shock...and never use the climb switch unless it's a 300m+ fireroad climb!

Hey there!

I hope there are some Torque Owners in this Club ;D

I´ve just received my new Torque CF 8. Since I´m not that experienced with those new fancy forks / shocks i´m a little bit overwhelmed by the huge amount of possibilities to setup the fork and the shock.

I´m about 180 cm tall/short and weigh about 85 kg when I´m ready to ride.

I prefer rocky trails in the alps and take most of the uphills by my own.

And now my question: Could you please recommend a setting for my fork (Fox 36 grip2 180mm) and my shock (Fox X2)?

Which settings do you ride?

Join Canyon Torque Owners on facebook.
There's a handful of members that would have insight into that setup.

These two guides will give you basic settings to start off with. From there you tinker around with adjustments to understand what they do then eventually set it up for personal preference.

Hi All Canyon Owners
I have an issue, i have a 2016 strive AL 7. About 3 months after receiving the bike i had an issue with the rear shock, which canyon sorted. Aftet that the bike developed a creak around the bb area, so changed bb, pivot bearings did all the usual stuff to sort it but to no avail. Took to LBS and he noticed that the rear triangle was out of alignment, and that the creak was coming from the main pivot so sent bike back to canyon. Again canyon were great, gave me a complete new frame! However! I have only had the bike back since September 2018 and due work commitments and family stuff ive only ridden the bike perhaps 10 times! And lo and behold the dreaded creak is back, yesterday i could hold the downtube and the chainstay and physically make it creak with very little effort! All bolts are torqued correctly. Have been in touch with canyon and they say send itback again, so cool. BUT have any of you guys and girls have problems with the main pivot area? Is this a common issue? What can i do to solve it? I love the bike but i cant live with the creak. In my opinion it seems like due to tension in the rear triangle (this one doesn't align right too) its enough to enlarge the hole in the swingarm hence the creak.

PLEASE PLEASE HELP

Todd

Does anyone know where I can get the bush that the rear shock mounts to on the shape shifter from? It's like a top hat. Mine has disintegrated, also need to 2 spacers either side of the shock.

If anyone knows where I can get this from it'd be greatly appreciated, I have emailed Canyon.

Mine also disintegrated, but I was able to get a fresh set from my local bike shop. They aren’t affiliated with canyon but they had them in their spare parts. They were part of a fox mounting kit, basically just du bushings. Canyon sent me multiple spacers when requested, they had a special set for my cane creek coil.

I'm not so sure they are the correct ones you need. I think they go into the actual du bush on the top of the shock. When I asked TF Tune about their bush kits for the Canyon Strive they said I would still need to obtain the top hat bushes (IGUS bushes) which fit in the swing arm from Canyon as TF Tuned do not supply them.

So, if you're after the two (grey plastic) top hats which press fit into the swing arm, connecting the Shapeshifter to the top shock mount, then you need IGUS Bushing GFI-0809-04 (Canyon Part no. A1045639. Item 9 in diagram - link below). They are modified with a larger diameter flange (rim of top hat).

I have just bought two of them from Canyon GMBH (via Canyon UK) at the ridiculous price of £5.99 + shipping £6.99. Mind you they are £5.08 each + shipping costs direct from the manufacturer - but you have to specify the exact dimensions. https://www.igus.com/product/65

Knock the old ones out of the swing arm (outside to in) with a socket or bar exactly the same size as the bush. Fit the new ones using a nut, bolt and a couple of large flat washers. They are a tight interference fit and as they are pressed in from the inside to the out of the swing arm you cant hammer them in. Even if you did try to do this the bush would break/shatter. Also, before you fit these bushes, if you slide them onto the metal tube which goes thru the shock, these bushes feel very lose. No worries though as after you have fitted the new bushes the fit is as tight as the old ones.

One last thing, do you have a link for the little washer that goes between this part and the shock?
