Entire account is stolen eBay ads (text copied word-for-word, photos stolen). I sent a PayPal payment, was alerted account was set up in Euros. Name on E-mail, PB, and PayPal account all different.
Requested a refund, got runaround about why that isn't possible, filed PayPal resolution claim.
Pinkbike account interacts with these accounts, which all have stolen ebay ad content listed as well:
Yeah, pretty sure this is a scam. Just joined May 8th. Seeing a lot of these lately. Buddy of mine found a 2022 Santa Cruz 5010 CC4 (all XO1) listed for $2800 (it's a $7800 bike new) in excellent shape. Sure thing. Also just joined in early May.
eewings for 90 bucks? scam 100% not even trying to hide it
User pbuser545 had an account opened in like 2013 had like 3 things posted recently for way to low. I couldn’t find the pics they posted by reverse image search so I thought what the hell PayPal’s got me. Right?
Less than 24 hours after I sent PayPal Goods and service they were listed as a scammer here. I went to cancel the payment and I couldn’t as the payment had been processed. I opened a dispute and requested a refund. The seller said they didn’t know how to refund. But then sent me a $1 payment which I sent back. I provided PayPal screen shots from here where it says scammer and banned next their correspondence with me. The seller saw the screen shots and added a FedEx tracking number that was an overnight delivery to my town on the appropriate dates and PayPal ended the dispute siding with the seller. WTF
I called PayPal and we called FedEx and were able to confirm that the tracking number provided was delivered to my town but not to my address. PayPal said this happens and completely refunded me with in 5 mins.
What I learned: Scammers are - Activating old accounts. - Altering pictures enough to not come up on reverse image searches. - Accessing Fedex data to find tracking numbers that could be plausible. - Running this scam through paypal regular enough that they were not surprised.
Thank you mods for what you’re doing but Pink Bike needs to do something before BuySell rots.
Sold my Nukeproof Mega frame on here and shipped with bikeflights with signature required. 60 days later buyer submits a dispute with paypal claiming it was an unauthorized transaction. Now my paypal account has neg balance. I sent buyer message but no response. Dude has photos of my old frame on some of his for recent for sale ads all built up wtf u/ajhalldin ?
Damn what nightmare? PayPal already took money from you? This is some new kinda fear unlocked now. The guy seems like 14 yo kid, his IG is full of Nukeproof bike probably the one that you sold - can't you fight this with all the proof out there

They haven't taken anything from me yet...It's a chargeback from the buyer so my guess is the guy paid with a credit card, decides now that he doesn't want to pay his bill, claims as an unauthorized payment and paypal hits me with a negative balance. Paypal does gives me a chance to respond to this, option 1 to refund the money which essentially means pay off the neg balance on my account and option 2 respond with tracking info, proof of delivery and any messages between seller and buyer. What I don't get is I have all the evidence it was delivered and I even messaged him asking if he received frame and he confirms yes but he decides to chargeback? I don't get it. Anyone else seen something this stupid?

Somebody essentially stole a bike from where I work by doing this same fraud method. Takes a defective human being to steal a bike from a small business or a random stranger.
