is there any secret to knowing how fast to hit a jump? or is it something that just comes with time?

You just gotta keep riding. Kinda like how since you've been walking for years you know how fast to run to jump on to something. You'll get it from more time on your bike Smile

I found it came with time, just knowing what speed feels right, quite often as well, if jumps are built well then they compliment the trail so you dont need to speed up or slow down, what i think anyway, the more jumps you hit, the more experience youll have, the better your speed judging will get

I raced a lot of BMX before I raced DH, try looking at how they stay low and emphasize pumping and manuals. It really formed my riding style to what it is today.

Also if you have a mate that can do a double that you are unsure of follow him through it.
