You can run an 1 1/8" steer tube fork in a 1.5" frame with a head set reducer set, a 1.5" tube is too big for a 1 1/8" head tube therefore will never work.
sorry, you can get it trimed or whatever the term is... sorry. It is possible to make it fit your bike though
it is not possible... i dont know how many people have to tell you, but you are wrong. Unsecure image, only https images allowed: http://parktool.com/images_inc/repair_help/headtype45.jpgthats the difference in headset cup size, i cant find a picture of the steerers, but i think that shows the difference... you can see that they are a significantly different size, and you cannot shave down the steerer on a 1.5 fork to 1 1/8 because the walls are not thick enough, the inner diameter is still larger than the outer diameter of a 1 1/8 steerer... and even if it was, you would end up with a steerer with walls so thing you could stab a pencil through, it just doesnt work...
im getting a super good deal on a used one with a 1.5 diameter steerer tube i am wondering how much it would cost to get it changed if i need to get the crown changed quote that i would like to know the cost because it should be possible
Just get it cut with the magic diameter shrinking saw that P2urban spoke of... His inability to listen makes me want to stab him in the left eye with a 1.125" steerer and a 1.5" steerer in the right.
to go from 1.5" to 1.125" with Totems you have to get the CSU changed (crown/steerer unit) which means the crown, upper legs and steerer tube, plus a complete fork rebuild
so expensive it would be cheaper to sell a 1.5" fork and buy a 1.125" fork

i have a 09 sx trail I wanted to get a new fork like a totem or 66. The 09 sx has a 1 1/8 to 1.5" tapered alloy steer tube, and i wanted to know how to get one that is like that or is it just 1 1/8 or something
