Have you demoed a 29 yet, what height are you? Looking at a new bike next year, but still loving the trance. Was hoping giant would bring out a new 275 version next year, but not convinced they will. Not sure to stay 275 or go 29, personally feel the race scene has pushed 29 forward. I get 29 for taller riders but for shorter riders (below 5ft 7) feel 275 is better suited.

I haven't test rode a 29 yet but I have a feeling I will like the added rolling speed. I'm 6 feet tall so a good flickable 29er might be the ticket.

I've tried reign29er and instantly fell in love!!!

I have a 2019 Reign 275 advanced built with a 29 fork
I am only 5'4 and I have a 2017 Trek Fuel 29
I prefer the 29er for a longer ride. As capable as the bigger Reign and more poppy!
I don't know maybe I am too lazy to find the sweet spot of the Reign's X2 rear. The DPX2 on my Fuel is great.

Sometimes I slap a 29er front to the Reign but very minimum benefit. I guess the 170 Fox should go down to 150

Saw a deal too good to pass up and ordered a dvo topaz for my '17 trance.
While I'm excitedly waiting for it to arrive, is anyone else running one on this frame? If so how are you finding it? Any tips for setting it up?

Every once in a while a last gen Trance shows up with a coil and I really get the itch to do it to mine. Everything I have read says it's too linear a curve, but I keep seeing it. And now there's progressive coils...options are out there. A Marzocchi Bomber CR with progressive coil is like $450 brand new!!!

I have the Storia on mine and it is awesome. Rides DH like a bigger bike and doesn't lose anything in the pedaling.

Has anyone had much experience with coils on the newer Trance 27.5 frames? (2017-2020) Getting the itch to try one myself

Anyone know if 200x57 X2 shock will clear a large 2014 trance frame? Or do I need to stick with DPX2. Most of my riding is pedal up, ride down so the 2 position switch on the X2 is ideal.

EDIT
people talking about having to sand down the upper link?

I had one on mine and yes I had to file down the inside edges of the link to get it to clear properly. I rode it like that for many years with no issues but have switched over to a coil now.

Any chance you have a picture of how much you had to sand? Do you think there is any structural risk in doing so? It sounds like you just need to take a tiny bit off the inside leading edge?

I can take a pic for you. Give me a bit Smile

that'd be great. No rush

Kind of dirty but I think you get the idea. I seem to remember it rubbed as it rotated through

Thanks. That doesn't look too bad. Better question is how did you find the x2 VS coil
