Can someone tell me what type of freehub we have on a 2020 Trance 2. I know it's a shimano but is it MS or HG? looking at new wheelsets and not sure what to get.

If its a 12 speed shimano then it'll be Microspline (MS)

Hey y’all!

I’m seeing some posts on 2016 or newer Giant Trance fitted with Marzocchi or others, but haven’t found anything regarding Coil Sizes and brands that could fit decently on a 2014 27.5 Trance. Maybe I missed a post?

I’m running 160mm front and currently have a 200x57 rc3 plus on rear, but wanting to give coil a strong go. Thoughts on brands that would work, personal shots of your own setup, etc… thanks!

Definitely not a cheap option but I have a EXT Storia on my 2016 27.5 Trance

Finally got around to putting a -2 angle set into my 17 Trance Ad.

Should have done it years ago. It feels transformed. I see no downsides. Truly.

Glad you like the change! My 2017 is roughly at 64 degrees with the Works 2 degree angleset and 160mm front fork. Because I opted for the longer fork, I think my bottom bracket height is near stock (which would otherwise be lower with the angleset). And as I am sure you've experienced, I don't feel a need to get a new bike because my geo is antiquated.

Last upgrades I hope Shimano Zee Brakes Fox DPX2 shock Maxxis Minion DHR II Double Down rear tire

I demo'ed a new Rocky Mountain Altitude this summer that was super slack. I loved it. That's what pushed me over the edge to buying the angle-set. I feel exactly the same as you. My bike with the angle-set feels totally current. I have no upgrade plans anymore.

(love the raw alum btw)

Has anyone had experience with mullet-ing a 2017-2021 Trance 27.5 by putting a 150mm travel 29er fork and wheel on it?

No, but I really want to. I think it would work really well, especially with an angleset. Higher front end, but that wouldn't hurt. I ghetto mulleted by Anthem SX and it's great.

Just handed my 2016 Trance Advanced 1 to the LBS for a fork/shock service.

All these years and that bike still feels amazing on every ride. No matter how fancy all the new stuff looks, I just can't seem to justify changing that trance, as it just seems to do everything perfectly!

I guess I'm frozen in time with 1x11 and 27.5 2.6 tires haha.

Anyone have an idea on a headset size for the 2014's? I measured and thought it was an IS41 but there is a bit of play with the bearing on my Trance 2... Should I size up to IS42 or go all the way to 44? I have read that I maybe should be looking for a ZS44? HELP!

WILL A 2014-2016 REAR TRIANGLE (27.5) FIT ON A 2011-2013 FRONT FRAME?

Picked up a 2011 Trance X2 frame dirt cheap. I have spare 27.5 wheels but wont fit on this frame designed for 26".
(a super skinny 27.5 MIGHT fit but barely - not desirable)

Looking at pics of 2014-2016 bikes, the rear triangle & rocker linkages looks very similar to the '11-'13 ones, thinking it might actually work as a straight swap onto a 2011-2013 front frame, or might with some minor spacer experimenting.

If i already have the wheels, and can find a cheap '14-'16 chainstay (some on ebay), this would nudge an old school bike into slighly more modern geo territory with slightly longer chainstay, wheelbase, and better rollover capability. Not that these were ever really good for DH but could make a slight improvement.

Has anyone tried this? Anyone knowledgable who has messed around with different year rockers & frame bits?

Just had my fox fork and shock serviced and they came back with some fancy orange dials!

Apparently fox have been running a promotion for that. Shame it seems like they forgot to change the air cap Razz

Have a 2015 Trance Advanced 1 with a Dpx2 (200x51) and a 34 Factory 140 up front. I've read through plenty of folks going up to 160mm with a headset angle offset. Is it worth moving up to a 36 with a 160? I'm about 200 with gear and trying to decide if the 36 is worth the upgrade. Would be nice to have a bit more travel up front for downhill fun but I can't say I've bottomed out much at all on the 34. I have noticed it does feel quite chattery on the rockier sections here in Phx, AZ.
