how? It's a hell of a lot more simple and a lot more fun. You don't have to worry about tightening or loosening linkages or dealing with a rear shock. That's just me though, I like a simple ride. Single speed hardtail with wide bars, burly wheels, and fat tires.

The Ragley Marley can take up to a 160mm fork, and has pretty good specs.

Got mine off of Chain Reaction Cycles. Would look there. More Ragley models there too.

Hardtails don't defeat the purpose of anything. They are just a different style. They are more reliable, usually lighter and cheaper to maintain. Having a steel frame and wide tyres help to reduce trail sting, it doesn't replace the need for full sus. Over really rough ground hardtails are darn uncomfortable.

Long travel is great for pointing down we all know this, it gives you the extra confidence to plough through rock gardens and off bigger drops.
And with the lack of a rear shock you tend to storm up hills, as it's all mountain... You cycle up them as well as down.

No..... Riding a V10 carbon in the Tour De France defeats the purpose of the bike and the race. 'Nuff said.
