I just got my first job (I'm 16) and I work as a bike builder at my LBS.

Anyone here self employed?

I'm giving it a go, so far so good!

Am still self employed. Going well. Got 2 hourly employees and a few sub contractors. I do house renovations.

I believe my work matters, I'd rather be biking but we all gotta do our parts to keep the world going.

I work in a factory machining blades for Tubines(Jet Engines/Genoraters) machined to tolerances of as little as 0.0001 of an inch(1/40 of a human hair)! Very tedious, repetitive, and a lot of responsibility... One piece of metal you can hold in the palm of your hand can have an upwards cost of $30,000 when finished!

True. It's what most people define their lives by, and find meaning in. NO work is meaningless.

-Rig welder/Welding Inspector/Electrician/Safety Officer/Coatings Inspector/Construction Supervisor/Idiot.... Mostly the latter.
