My definition of a real hip-hop head is someone who is part of the hip-hop culture, and has knowledge of that culture. If they're posting in this thread then they're most likely a real hip-hop head.
Who are these many people who hate hip-hop heads? Because everybody I know has no hate for them.
People who are fans of today's rap. If you love the rap of today it's pretty disrespectful to see people only consider 90s rap "real hip-hop" because we classify modern rap "real hip-hop too. Think about someone like chance he sounds pretty oldschool. So why wouldn't he be considered "real hip-hop"
Where did I say modern hip-hop isn't real hip-hop? I like a few modern hip-hop songs and artists/groups.
I was just surprised that this thread isn't more popular because old school and golden age hip-hop was at it's best in those ears, and these artists and groups inspired the newer hip-hop artists and groups.
I took it as real hip hop in the golden age there's meant that only golden age hiphop was real. I must've taken it the wrong way. My apologies. But I believe this thread will be hard to keep because most have heard and listen to the classics. It's not like a normal rap thread where you lost new music no one has seen to keep interest and regular posts flowing. Here we could post the idols and legends but we already know about them:P
I duno man, this thread is really useful for me because I love old hip hop but I don't know all the artists because they were before my time. you hear a lot in other places, but I doubt i'd ever have heard that loose track above (for example) if it wernt for this thread.. and its great!
I'd love it for the new generation to hear and respect the older hip-hop. I know a few 14 and 15 year olds who know a lot of the old stuff, and they love it as much as the new hip-hop. Glad you liked it man. That's one reason I started this thread. I want people to hear the hip-hop which used to be around.
Also, this needs to happen. Big Daddy Kane vs Rakim would be dope.
From what BDK said, it seems like he's shook to face Rakim in a battle. First he said he'd do it for $500k (which I doubt anybody will pay to see) then he claims he doesn't battle any more. Just feels like he's making excuses not the battle the god MC Rakim. I could be worng, but that's how I see it.
fredro, those songs do show both of their skills, also Warm It Up Kane, was a good one. If it does happen I'll be hyped to see it, but I don't think it will.
