I have a question about region hierarchy.

In my country, sub-regions 1 are represented by counties. Sub-regions 2 are generally major landforms (like Mehedinti Mountains, Cerna Mountains, and so on). The problem is that those landforms can span across multiple counties, which are the parent category. What's the best solution for this issue? Shall I create a separate sub-region 2 for every county (ex: Mehedinti Mountains - Caras-Severin sector, Mehedinti Mountains - Mehedinti sector), or shall I ditch those entirely and use smaller riding areas instead?

Later edit: I've decided to drop the sub-regions 2, as they only added more complexity without any real benefits in those areas, focusing on riding areas instead. As a result, I'm left with some regions that are no longer needed, could an admin delete them? I've already moved all the trails to other areas:

https://www.trailforks.com/contribute/region/20994/
https://www.trailforks.com/region/northern-mehedinti-14355/ - with all its child regions
https://www.trailforks.com/region/schit-16343/
https://www.trailforks.com/region/cerna-mountains-19856/

Thank you!

And an issue with routing, there's no way I can connect these two trails and I don't know why, they seem to snap perfectly, and the routing admin doesn't show any yellow points:

I just used the ride planner tool and found that when I load the elevation chart, the climb just shows up as 1 mile. This measurement would be a lot more useful listed in feet. I tried switching my units to metric and it showed in meters when I reloaded the route.

The printing of winter trails is fixed for scree/web. The vector formats (tiff/pdf) are still not working yet.

Hi

At Haughmond Hill, a small Riding Area in UK, we have a small Café operated by the Forestry Commission for visitors. It is at the Parking Area and is not specific to any trails.

So I was wanting to add a POI so visitors would know that a café was here. But there isn't a specific POI for cafes etc. so I used 'Viewpoint' but that doesn't really fit. It is currently closed due to a change of operators and my efforts to 'Report' this closure on the POI seems to go to Trail reports and the only other option is to 'Decommission' it which also removes it from the map. Also my efforts to have no trails attached were unsuccessful, seemingly POI must have an attached trail.

I have tried to use a Directory listing (as Other) but the only location facility is a Street Address. This plonks the 'Icon' right in the middle of Haughmond Hill so this method is unsuitable fir something that a hungry rider is trying to find!

I think this situation will apply to Trail Centres and other facilities. The apparent compulsory attachment of a trail also seems a hitch, perhaps an option for 'None' would help.

a POI doesn't have to be attached to a trail. Add the POI FROM the region page.
https://www.trailforks.com/contribute/poi/?rid=14840

For example this POI you added is not attached to any trail. https://www.trailforks.com/poi/16578/

I would just add the Cafe as a Sight maybe

Ta! (This is English vernacular for Thankyou, and has the virtue of less typing.....)

I'm still not having any luck. I still only get summer trails on my output. I've tried the resolution set to screen/web and to paper, tried all of the file formats. I even tried turning the trail layer off, just in case the summer trails were somehow overriding the winter trails. No luck.....

I'm still having problems with this. Basically, no matter what layers I select to display, the downloaded map shows only the summer trails on the standard map base. Also if I try to use one of the other map bases (ownership, heatmap, etc.) all I get is the standard map base. I have tried changing the trail style (with the summer trails) and the exported maps only show trail difficulty.

Winter trails printing to PDF or JPG is working for me. You have to select the winter trails checkbox in the Printing settings.

I think it would be good on the "Browse trails by map" page to have the option to select/hide trails by options such as difficulty, trail features, whether youve ridden it, trail type etc

Ah okay....So I've found that option in the Printing settings area now. But there's a bug on the website (if you want to call it a bug), I was getting to the Print Maps tool by going from the regular "more" menu at the top of the TF page (in the green band). If I go that way, I don't see the "Filter" menu choices shown in your screen capture.

But if I instead just go to the general trail area page for the area I'm interested in (Isobel Lake), click on the admin tab and then use the "print maps tool" link that's there, I get the Filter menu. Awesome! Plus, all the export formats work fine with the winter trails.

Desktop:
There's a green Download button at the bottom of the trail's page. Click on that, and then go to the GPX / KML tab to download the file.

Phone/Tablet:
There's a grey Download button at the bottom of the trail's page. Click on that, and then go to the GPX / KML tab to download the file.

If the trail has been set to not permit downloads, this ^^^^^ won't work. Contact the region admin and/or the person who submitted the trail for assistance.
