There is a camp called "gipsy camp" right next to the lifts. Free of charge to stay there. Also there are toilets, shower open from 06:00-00:00.
hey, customcore,
thanks a lot for this info. We stayed 3 nights in the gypsy camp, loved it! Great vibes, also met Lacondeguy and Makken, both there for the whipoff contest.
What are the "must-ride" areas within Norway? I am planning on a roadtrip / MTB / hiking holiday from mid-August onwards and I find it difficult to select the "best" places to go to, there is so (/ to) much to choose from.
At the moment only Hafjell bike-park and Trailhead Nesbyen is included in my schedule, but I am still looking for 3 or 4 areas to go to. Which are considered as the go-to places if you are looking for all day hikes and rides in Norway?

for hiking, check out Dovrefjell National park with the famous Snøhetta peak. If You link it with Rondane National Park, You can start/finish pretty much in Hafjell. There are multiple trails. From my personal experience these areas offer a variety of terrain with absolutely breathtaking views and much to see in terms of wildlife, as well as good support infrastructure.
For cycling let the Norwegians reply, but I personally would suggest to add Trysil Bike Arena to the list. Also check the Norwegian portion of https://trailguide.net
Hi all. Planning a trip to hafjell next July. Flights aren't too expensive to Oslo but I could do with some advice on transfers from Oslo and places to stay close enough to pedal to the bike park. Thankyou
You can take the train to Lillehammer, and likely a bus from there. I dont know where to find bus info for that area, but im sure Google will provide something. For the train use NSB.no (national train site) then scroll to the bottom and click in English.

Hey,
We did the trip from the UK last year - best way is to fly from Heathrow so you don't arrive super early/late. Then get the train to Lillehammer (book online on norway train website (NSB?)) and then a Taxi from there (bookable online) (there is a bus but it doesn't run late enough)
There are some apartments called Hafjell Hotel & Apartments that sleep 6 and are really close to the lift/tracks- highly recommended!
Hafjell is awesome and the riding is amazing but be aware the Bikepark isn't open Monday-Wednesday so plan some other activities for those days when you're there! We did 8 days of riding and had those 3 days exploring the local area.
Also be aware it's expensive! We used the apartments cooking facilities for all meals, and didn't really drink a whole lot.
I'd highly recommend it, better riding that anythign in the Alps if you want amazing flow trails and jumps!
Hello everybody, I am considering going to Norway for summer season. I have been a bike mechanic for last 12 years. Do you have any suggestions, what location should I be aiming for? Any ideas about bike shops, which are looking for summer workers? Thank you !
Hi, I am trying to find something like "Norway Stolen Bikes" database to check frame serial number and maybe help someone (from Norway) to get back hes beloved bike back
Some time ago i helped to someone from UK to get his bike back .
Hey, I'm in Norway for the year as an exchange student and was hoping to do the Nesbyenduro. Anybidy on here tried it or thinking of trying it?
Did it a few years ago. Some of the best trails in Norway and the race takes in the best. I’m heading there again this year. One thing though, bring your climbing legs!
I'm going to spend weekend in Oslo and I'm looking for a good mtb rental company. No much luck with google so far. Can you help out/point me to the right direction?
Going for one week to tromso (02.10-08.10) and would love to have one or two days of riding there. Any advices regarding bike trails or parks in the surrounding and on bike rental (and gears)? Any locals willing to ride me around? Any input highly appreciated Many thanks
I'm moving to Stavanger shortly. I'll be bringing my trail/Enduro bike, XC bike, DJer and fixie commuter. I'm guessing fixie hipsters won't be hanging out on pink bike, but can anyone recommend DH/trail/XC areas? My game plan is to buy a van and rig it for weekend trips.
