The knobby "whale's back" granite highlands between Macintosh run meander and purcells cove road seem to be the target for development here. If you live in the area or are interested in natural sciences aspect you should check out the report: http://backlandscoalition.ca/WLCCreport/

The area is used by paddlers, hikers, runners, swimmers, and frolickers of all sorts. Everyone I've seen there seems to be smiling, enjoying their recreation, accessible by public transit no less. It's backcountry with unique flora, incredibly rich wildlife habitat, and is prone to wildfires.
