Thanks for the reply, I meant to go to max.30mm internal, so outer max.35mm. with tyre 2.4 (HR2).
The rear wheel must have a prominent space between the frame and the tire, as I ride in muddy conditions as well.

So the main quest is whether I would go for the 30mm inner width (DT EX 511) with the 2.4 tyre, and if there would be enough clearance between the frame and the tire?

I ride 2016 .1.5LTD

On front is not problem, there is boost lyrik...

Yes, no issues whatsoever. Used to run a Mary 2.35 (which is quite a bit wider than a DHR 2.4) on a 35mm ID rim. Now running a DHR2 2.4 on a 28mm ID rim in the rear (went to carbon rims) and there's oodles of space.

Has anyone tried 29" fork with their 27.5" Reign?
Conclusions?

Built from 2019 frame up with Fox 36 29er fork 170 for the purpose of swapping or satisfying my Mixer curiosity.
Minimal gains on the DH and harder on the climbs(63 degrees)
I think I still prefer same wheel set up.

Have you considered dropping the front travel to 150mm and giving that a try?

Twas originally 160 then something was wrong. Fixed it under warranty and bumped to 170. Not planning to lower it back to 160 because I have a 2017 Trek Fuel EX 29er as my longer ride bike

Has anyone made exactly this^ stock travel front and rear (160), changing fork from 27 to 29 (with the same travel 160) ??

That Trek looks amazing.
I’ve just picked up a 2019 Reign 2 with the drivetrain switched for GX Eagle and the forks (Yari) updated with a charger damper. Not ridden it yet but looking forward to it based on what I’ve read of this thread so far

Well, never tried stock. But switched from a 170 Lyrik 27.5 to Öhlins 160 29 and experience better cornering, better roll over and steadier wheeliesWink Built up a new front wheel (29) to give it a try and been running that for 6 months now.

So, what's best option to make mullet from Reign Advanced 1 2016? In stock it's 160 mm front 27.5.

Any 160mm 29 or 150mm or ... ?

I really like it now. At first the front wheel looked farther out so I had to get use to taking corners a little wider and earlier. It really shines on the fast downhills and keeps its line like a downhill bike. Below is a recent video at Avery Creek in Pisgah, NC. I built this specifically for enduroish trails but have been riding it exclusively for the last couple of months. Next upgrade will be a Push ACS3 Fork Coil Conversion Kit. Let me know if you have any questions.
