Like a tit, I've managed to round off the bleed port screw on my Shimano SLX master cylinder. Normally, I wouldn't hesitate to tap it with a larger bit or a screwdriver, but I don't know how well the unit will stand up to the hammering.
that's not a big problem. the best and safe way to solve it: 1) take a hacksaw and saw your screw to fit a flat screwdriver or any other hard flat thing. 2) unscrew it. there's not much power needed as you know 3) replace that screw. my girl has lost it once (XT785). so I took a screw that fits a pump or bottle holder to the frame. it has the same thread and it's hat closes bleed port perfectly. all you need is just shorten it with your hacksaw. if yo don't have one, then go to LBS and buy a cheapest pump that is supplied with a holder for a frame. It always has a pair of screws.
and yep, you also can tap there a hex bit, the lever is pretty sturdy, but no brute force! and in this case you will have to replace your screw too.
But the bleed port screw on Shimano XT785/SLX MC's is a lot smaller than a bottle cage mount screw, at least that I have seen. But I have not seen everything so hey if it works it works.
I don't know of another screw that will fit the lever body in the bike world. Once you remove the screw I would recommend just getting a new one of the same type. Don't forget the little o-ring too.
there may be no need in new O-ring) I definitely can't imagine how you damage existing one by removing the screw (except drilling it). Also I'll measure my bottle cage screw's head diameter today. I still think you can find one that fits. and that is way faster and cheaper))
and as a bonus you may leave your screw sawed. of course if you haven't destroyed it. you bleed your brakes once a year, so it will not be a problem.
