I will be in San Jose for the weekends of the 7th and 8th and the 14th and 15th of February due to work.
Was wondering if anyone on here would be able to show me some riding spots or give some directions to some good riding..... big ask I know, but hoping.
I will have transport and my bike etc with me.
Looking for something suitable for a Santacruz Nomad, and a reasonably skilled rider.
I'd definitely suggest riding Soquel Demo Forest, known locally as "Demo". It's generally considered the best riding in the area.
Also closer to Santa Cruz is the Emma McCrary Trail (EMT), which is short but connects to other stuff. Go early in the am, it's a crowded zoo on weekends. http://www.mbosc.org/local-parks/pogonip/emma-mccrary-trail/
Wilder Ranch State Park is also worth a visit (fun trails, awesome ocean views). $10 fee for parking.
Closer to SJ is Santa Teresa County Park, which is fun and has one excellent semi-tech trail Rocky Ridge. $6 fee for parking
Further away (~45 min - 1 hour drive) is El Corte de Madera Open Space Preserve, known as "ECdM" or "Skeggs".
Trail Head Cyclery is SJ is a good local shop if you need anything, and they can fill in the gaps for trail suggestions. http://trailheadcyclery.com/contact-us/
