I like the same compound F/R because it helps me control slides a lot easier through berms. I would love to get the Garnet but the price and wire mounting are turn-offs. I have a deal with Wolf-tooth and their lever is incompatible. And I'm super stoked on the bars. Heard a lot about them over the last season and finally bit the bullet.
Fair enough, i dont know what your riding area is like. But i had mm combo in verstar on my dh bike and after 2 days in the alpa when it was dusty they were ready to be replaced. I like the trailstar as i dont notice too much of a grip defecit. Also you will notice different amount of grip anyway as you are running different tyres??

Yeah vert star is really about getting every last ounce of grip without any concern for life. Trailstar is going to work fine for my purposes. Seemed tacky enough and never had an issue with a trail star tire.
Now when it comes to snakeskin, the (sidewall)s easily ripped apart but it is a pound lighter for the set and 4 lbs with rotation compensation.
