Yes,I have. Which is why I'm back to a 26er. But let's not quibble over which wheel size is best. It's been done already
Agreed.
you two are probably the coolest people on Pinkbike. I'm so tired of everyone going crazy about wheel size in the forums. Ive experienced a 10 page plus argument about wheel size.....

The way I see it my friend,is 26,27.5 and 29 all have a place in MTB'ing. I stick to 26" because I have a maze of technical forest trails on my doorstep, plus the fact I'm a shortarse True,I also have 60+ miles of Windfarm trails, which are loose stone/gravel over hardpack. And they are a blast on the 26er,but when I took the Cotic with the 650b wheels(my friends) on there,it swallowed them up. So I can only imagine what a 29er would be like on it .On the more technical stuff, it was a bit tighter to steer, but I think with a bit of practice things would be fine for that. I think 29ers are out and out XC race machines, but companies are changing geometries to further enhance them for the tight technical stuff I spoke of earlier. But for the now,I would say they are at home on fast flowing trails IMHO.
I also think 26 " is the only way to go for out and out DH.There you have it,set in stone And for the Aggressive HT riders who like a bit of off piste action.I count myself in that category.
This is my opinion only. Every wheel size has a place in the sport, but for different disciplines. As for the thread question,I feel we are moving into the realms of farce and confusion bringing out more wheel sizes.
I think it's just what works best for you. 26, 27.5, 29, all have there good points. Personally I was just blown away with how good 27.5 felt for downhill.
