The wee toe on my alfine lasted two short runs. Actually works much better now it's zip tied to my chainstay.

They’re referring to the small stop that engages the hook on the bottom of the derailleur hanger to keep it from rotating forward. They often snap off but bolt tension and friction alone is good enough to keep it from moving most of the time plus you have more adjustment without it.

I used my Zee mech as a tensioner with no issues at all. Probably the ghetto way to do it, but I didn't want to shell out the $50 or so for a legit one when the clutch mech does great.

Did you use a shifter cable or limit screws to set the derailleur?

Is it necessary to have a functioning clutch for this setup to work properly?

Thanks

I highly recommend narrow wide chain rings and the clutch derailleur.

I have been pretty happy with the N/W chain ring and Problem Solver tensioner combo.

It helps but not necessary. Make sure you have your chain short to hold tension.

you can also pull the cable straight through the derailleur and tighten it to where you want it so similar to setting gears up but single speed.

I have been running a 34/13 ratio for park/shuttle dh riding. Works pretty good with the 36 up front too.

I was running a 34-14 on my old bike (26er) for park and also local tracks riding. Now i run a 36-14 on a 27.5. A little too hard for me, looking for a 34 chainring. I'm 179cm and 77kg.

Just for interest, bought a SB One tensioner for the new Reichmann R.I.P. III and it looks fine. The bike is not finished yet.

Old R.I.P. I last year with Zee singlespeed:
