Surprisingly its not so bad, I am still riding hard with it broken while I wait for my surgery.

I would start with some light riding, maybe some xc or something. Wouldn't do downhill until at least 8 weeks out. I followed the doctors orders and took it easy at first and yet somehow still managed to break the plate and the bone. I don't even remember taking a big fall! I really don't think that doctors realise how rough downhill can be even if you don't fall.

hmm are you riding with a broken collarbone? xD!
yea i Think i will wait untill next month to start riding some hard downhill but for now im just going to ride some easy trails.

Yeah for now I am riding while it is in two pieces. Better than the 3 pieces is was in before I guess. But once I can get in for surgery its back to square one.[/Quote]

ok i hope you get better!
good luck with your riding mate! Big Grin

Hi man! Just broke mine yesterday at bmx training, and hell it's annoying for the coming season! It's currently in 3 pieces and i wait for a specialist appointment next week to know if they operate or not. 1st doctor told me they rarely operate collarbones apart from if it's in more than 2 parts. :/

Anyway how does your collarbone is now, is it 100% like before you broke it?

I have 2 plates and 12 screws. Its just as good as before, a little uglier and you can hear the bone clicking when it rubs on my shoulder. But its all good. Was back on a bike 8 weeks after surgery

I broke my collarbone 3 times in my life, 1 in football and 2 times in downhill.
Always without surgery and always without any issues afterwards, but the older I got the longer it took for healing.
But it was only in 2 pieces and one was near the shoulder.

Hi mate! shet that su ks broken collarbone is a b!tch, is it broken in 3 pieces? i didnt have surgery took me 7 weeks to be back on the big bike. well what my "doctor" told me was that 80% of the cases dont need surgery but yours is broken in 3 pieces so maybe you need surgery but dont worry mate it will heal good anyway,

it has been 2 years from when i broke it, mine did heal kinda good but i still get pain when i sleep on it, and i get pain when i use it too much or when i overload it with to much weight, so i guess i should had surgery and naah its not 100% like before my shoulder got 2,5cm shorter so that kinda suks but it can still take a hard crash so no probs with riding my bike! Smile but dont worry mate if you get to surgery it will heal just nice but i heard it takes longer to heal still about 6-8weeks i guess but it depends on how old you are, younger heals faster and older heals slower, still not more than 10weeks at tops i guess then you will be back on the bike sending healing vibes from sweden good luck and dont forget to drink more milk(get more calcium) and eat your porridge and use a sling for your arm and ya will be fine Smile
