I just got the new 2015 380c2r2 fork, and im wondering if anyone found the spring to rattle while riding. i haven't mounted the fork yet but when i shake it the spring is really noisy. i have the 2012 888rc3 and once the plastic coating fell apart i remember it getting really noisy. does the 380 have the same plastic sleeve? is so i might look into some heat shrink!

Think the spring came with out heat shrink originally. Tried using regular electrical heat shrink from work but the spring is a tight fit in the stantions so got the proper paper thin clear stuff from marzocchi and has been fine since

for reference, the steel springs rattle, the ti springs have a larger diameter and do not.

And the paper thin shrink falls apart rather quickly.

Yep 1/3 of it was sitting at the bottom of the fork!

I have a spare spring in the box with shrink wrap on. how do go about gaining acess to the spring? Do you need to take the preload cap off first as there no bolts on it? Also what size socket do you need 33mm?

I can't find any information about taking these forks apart.

33mm, no need to remove the dial

Took it for a test ride today and you can hear the rattle going down the trails even though theres shrink wrap on it. Frown

Mine rattles a lot, any solution so far?

my ti spring rattles as much as my steel spring did, wondering if its worth putting a few 1 inch long sections of slightly thicker shrink wrap on the spring

After the clear wrap disintergrated my fork got pretty noisey. last service I cleaned and degreased the spring and ran electrical tape down the whole spring just following the coil, then doubled up in a couple of spots to increase the overall diameter so it just fits without jamming the spring when it goes back in
Seems to be holding up so far halfway throught the bikepark season
