Haven't posted my scout in a minute
XL frame
Set up 140/140mm
Lyrik Rc2 w/ Vorsprung Smashpot, and 2007 retro style decals
RS-SDU Coil, Avalanche Tune
Light Bicycle Charbon rims, laced to Sram 900 hubs,
Rimpact inserts in both tires
210mm dropper, with a 240 on the way.

~34lbs, so not light for a 140mm bike, but also not heavy for a full-coil bike with 2 tire inserts I guess.
more pics in album

Bumped my 2020 Scout from 160 front travel to 170. Was thinking I’d get the cascade after and build a Scatrol. Can’t say I’d recommend 170 on the scout. Gain a little bit on the tech and straits but front wheel is all over the map. 170mm lyrik with the back on coil at 150mm for reference.

Funny I’ve got a 170 38 and love it vs 150. Do have to weight the front more but have no issues when it gets steep and deep or when up to trail speed

Really happy with the geo on these new Scouts. Float X is a great trail shock but I might look into an X2 to swap from time to time on park days. Metal 27.5 11spd bikes ain't dead!

What cassette and how's your chainline in the big rear cog? Really struggled with 46 and 28 in the front, have about 2mm clearance with the chainstay now with 3mm offset ring, can't imagine how it will work with a bigger front ring further out.

M5100 Deore 11spd 11-51T cassette and group matching derailleur. Front is a 30T oval, chain line is 52.5mm. Had some issues with it popping off the 51T gear initially, especially when the chain and jockey wheels were gunk’d up. Re-adjusted cable tension, b-tension, and the large cog hard stop after the first 50 or so miles and it’s pretty much perfect now.

Good info, thanks. Not sure if that's an upgrade since it would add 300g.

Folks,

I've got a 2017 alloy Scout. I found today that the threaded part of the dropout had sheared inside the frame. Any pointers on where to look in the U.K. for another one will be a great help.

Cheers all.

Have you tried the importer? https://shop.windwave.co.uk/spare-parts/transition

Cheers, I managed for find one and ordered it from Leisure lakes cycles. Fingers crossed it turns up. Next stop will be to contact Transition. Old parts seem hard to come by.
