Beautiful bike, That tree trunk covered in moss.. Awesome... Just did all day ride with my buddy , Spent the last 2 hours chasing him on his Ti Surface wrapping it up on 6500' vert single track gnarly down hill. So fun, couple beers after 8 hour day and im just right.Salute

I was being sarcastic. I love my Surface Ti...flavour of the day seems to be the Rootdown though.

Hi guys,

I just bought a complete root down today with a 170mm YARI 42mm offset and wonder if the 160mm YARI 51mm offset sitting at home would be a better fit?

Thanks

havent ridden it at 170 but with the shorter offset, I can imagine it running well. Agree with above, try both. If it is already set at 170, I'd leave it for now.

The Yari airsprings are interchangeable right? You could test the offset and travel with a few airspring and fork swaps

I have run a 51 offset Yari at 160 and 170, and now have a 170 Z1 in 42 offset (or 44, can't remember what Fox's short offset is). In the end, I felt very little difference between all 3 combinations, but I do for sure like the way the bike rides sitting at 170 travel because the front end is a bit higher.

I have 170mm fork on my Surface, feels like a perfect fit. I dont know the offset though.

I’m running a 170 Zeb with the 44(?) offset and came from a 51mm offset 160mm 36. I prefer the feel of the 170mm fork. Just feels right. I might get a shorter stem as well from 50mm to 35 or 40mm... haven’t decided yet, want to give it more rides before I buy another stem!

Thanks all! Since I dont have tools to swap internals I swapped forks and by just looking at the bike, I can say that the 170 (42mm) is a much better fit. Haven’t had chance to ride the bike yet since it has been pouring rain here in Quebec but I cant wait to try this new bike. Big Grin
