Toggle the hold switch on and off a few times and then hold the menu button and the middle button until it resets.

Nope, its an 8 track. Before that they even tried a 4 track format.

I also have a problem

So i have a iPod Nano and i recently lost my upload.charging cable. I went to future shop and bought a after market one so i could charge it but for some reason it will not allow me to update my iPod. Usually when i plug my iPod into the USB port iTunes pops up with my iPod info and lets me sync. But now when i plug it in nothing happens. I tried opening iTunes manually and still nothing. my sync info doesn't show up or anything. I have search "My computer" for the USB pork and says nothing is plugged in but yet my iPod is charging. Can some please help me update my iPod.

any advise?

Thanks,
-David
