Anybody ride maxxis Shorty as a front tyre? How good is it during winter on wet, loose terain. Will be 42a compound good or will hardened and lose grip when temperatures get low. Any comparison with HR2?
I am thinking to put Shorty 2.4 42a front and HR2 2.3 60a rear. I ride most loose, loamy trails with roots.
Thanks.

Had the first ride on my shorty 60a front tire in the wet last night with plenty of fallen leaves as well.
I am quite pleased though it doesn't feel THAT different to a minion. Since conditions are not that muddy over here during winter i'm not quite sure whether it was that good a decision over minion.
That said, it's not half bad in drier conditions, unless it's full on hard packed ground. Neither is a minion but latter is definitely the better allrounder.

Front: 2.5 DHF 3c maxx grip
Rear: 2.4 DHRII dual compound

Front: 2.3 DHF EXO 3C
Rear: 2.3 HRII EXO 3C

2013 Spicy - 160mm F&R.

I find this a better combo than Hans Dampf/Nobby Nic.
