Just bought a very lighly used demo 2019 RiftZone 2 at a great price that I'm upgrading with 'small brand' new stuff and parts I had lying around.
- SR Suntour Aion RC (installed)
- home built SLX/XM421 front wheel and Hope Pro4/Inferno 27 rear wheel
- Magura Louise BAT brakes
- Box Components Two drivetrain

Should also get the stock weight down a little

Currently staying off the trails for obvious reasons, looking forward to taking it out on the trails later....

So you made it a mullet bike? I never thought of that, but the chainstay is nice and short. It should be a good combo. I may have to try that down the road.

I bought the cheapest 2020 rift zone and was able to drop almost 4lbs off of the stock weight. The frames themselves are decent weights. It’s all the cheap components weighing them down.

Hopefully we can all be riding in the next couple of weeks. Nice looking rift zone!

No no, rear wheel is still 29 (Inferno 27 refers to rim width, not diameter...).
Stay safe!

My first real mountain bike! I picked this baby up second hand last year. It's a 2010 Marin Hawk Hill (when they were still hardtails) with an upgraded Rockshox Recon Silver TK 100mm air fork. It's been an excellent starter bike, got me hooked into the sport. I've since betrayed the Marin brand and picked up a 2018 YT Jeffsy, but I plan on keeping this as my get-around-town bike and lighter trail bike.

Not much to see.

2020 Rift Zone 3.

Around 500 trouble-free miles (rear hub seems to be on it's way out and the tires are starting to seep sealant out of the sidewalls).

Mods: 140mm front air shaft. Removed DPS travel limiter, getting me to around 135mm rear travel. 170mm FSA cranks. 45mm Race Face stem. MRP chain guide/bash guard. OneUp 150mm dropper and lever (with the 150mm X-Fusion that came on the bike I had less than 120mm actual drop with my 30" inseam. With the OneUp's shorter insertion length I get a full 150mm. Probably the best single modification to the bike). Bontrager Line Elite pedals. Bars cut to 740mm.

Some days I wish I'd gotten an Alpine Trail, other days I couldn't be happier with the Rift Zone.
