I am the Director Trail Operations for We have an opportunity to be granted access to a private trail network adjacent to our managed network and wondered if any others have run into this situation?

As a not for profit our members dues go towards maintaining trails within the Halton Forest complex (public lands).

While I like the idea of more singletrack are there any concerns our club should be addressing (insurance comes to mind) when working with private land owners? The owner is a rider and approached us, however i thought perhaps the wealth of builders and club members on PB might have run into this before.

No point reinventing the wheel.

Our local trail system is split between public and private land. The agreement with the land owner is that the local trail builders (STAY) can build as much as they want on the land wherever they choose, but are not allowed to build items on the trails that could be unsafe (relative to trail biking). For liability reasons, the owner of the land has stated that jumps cannot be constructed by STAY on trails, however using the land to "build a jump" is acceptable. He has also posted a liability notice on the main entrance board, stating that he is not liable for injury or damage to property.

Our trail system is strictly XC style trail, and are located in eastern Washington state as well, so everything is extremely rocky, and building is primarily done by riding and not tooling.
