I drive 25 miles to work and back five days a week so I'd like to be better than 30mpg. Needs to be four door/passenger. Have a roof rack but I'm thinking to go hitch type. I regularly need to rack three bikes. Most hitch racks for cars seem to be just for two bikes, so maybe I'd need the roof rack still, for the third bike. Anyone have a similar situ, setup that they love?

I have a tow bar / hitch setup on my BMW 3series touring albeit for two bikes. Thule do three bike racks. It's perfect. Wouldn't mind 4wd tho...
I have a pontiac vibe. With front wheels off I can fit 3 full sized mtbs, 3 persons and gear inside the car. or 2 people 4 or 5 bikes.. Really great fuel mileage. Mine is almost at 400 000km with no major issues other then a 45$ exhaust repair every other year or so. I know that when pontiac was still in buisness - the matrix was the exact same car, built in the same factory. I think the newer matrix's are a little smaller - but still probably worth a look.
